thanks Tim I never realised that there were three ships. How forward thinking those people were all that time ago to set it all up . Will now sit and have a nice read
Thanks Pam, good to hear from you
Gwawr
Sister Elisabeth Wilkins included on the regsiter was a contemporary of British nurse Edith Cavell, who of course, was shot for being a spy.
Sister Wilkins was in regular communication with Edith Cavell. Who knows what they discussed!
Hi Steve
Thanks for your comment, very interesting indeed. Are you looking into the history of the Hamadryad Hospital?
Regards
Gwawr
I can think of two wards Seager and Turnbull but can`t remember the third one…..
Thanks Bev,
Does anyone else remember the names of the wards in the Hamadryad Hospital?
Gwawr
The hamadryads old patients records were given to the museum of Wales for archiving, there was also a visitors book with Royal signatures in it including that of Edward V111. And his parents, this was given to what was the public relations office at UHW when the RHH closed, I may have some pictures and information on the RHH as I led the decommissioning team, I also was ward manager on Turnbull for a few years. The wards were named after people /companies involved in shipping the brass plaques were on the walls of the main corridor in Whitchurch just outside finance office and medical records.
Hi Elaine
Thank you so much for your comments and huge apologies for taking this long to reply.
Its very interesting indeed to hear where the old patient records from the Hamadryad went and the visitors book sounds very interesting indeed.
We would be very interested to see the photos of the Hamadryad Hospital, I visited a few times before it closed but have very little memory of the building when it was a hospital.
Regards
Gwawr
hello
am looking for someone with an interest in the hospital ship hamadryad as I have a relative shown on the 1891 as a patient .. but a bit unusual as she is ( 1) female (2) a child any help would be most welcome – thanks
