GENERAL MANAGEMENT

Rule 280.

An ample supply of books, newspapers, and cheap publications of a cheerful nature shall be provided, maintained and circulated. Various means of amusement, indoor and outdoor, shall be placed at the disposal of the Patients, and they shall be encouraged to have frequent recourse to them.

THE DISPENSING CHEMIST

(May be Male or Female: same rules.)

Rule 134.

He shall take photographs of the Patients on their admission and discharge, and other photographs, photomicrographs, and skiagraphs as required, and a copy of each photograph and skiagraph shall be inserted by him in the Case-Books.

Skiagraph is a photographic image produced on a radiosensitive surface by radiation other than visible light (especially by X-rays or gamma rays)

GENERAL MANAGEMENT

Rule 282.

The Airing Courts shall be open to their respective classes of Patients every day, whenever the weather is favourable, and be used as far as circumstances will permit, but whenever so used, one Attendant or Nurse at least shall be present. Exercise in the Asylum grounds, beyond the Airing Courts, shall be given, as far as possible, to every Patient.

GENERAL MANAGEMENT

Rule 295.

No Visitor or Union Officer shall be left alone with a Patient without the express permission of the Medical Superintendent. Letters and parcels to and from Patients shall pass through the hands of the Medical Superintendent, who shall deal with them as directed by Section 41 of the Lunacy Act, 1890.

Rule 340.

In regard to all duties not provided for in the Rules and Regulations, the Medical Superintendent shall be consulted, and his directions obeyed.

The rule noted above is the last rule in the book.

GENERAL MANAGEMENT

Rule 294.

Relatives and Friends of Patients shall be allowed to visit them on Wednesday in each week between such hours as the Medical Superintendent may direct, and at other times by the special permission of theĀ  Medical Superintendent, or in cases of dangerous illness; but no person shall visit a Patient if the Medical Superintendent shall state in writing that the visit will probably be injurious to the Patient, or is otherwise inexpedient.

Rule 325

Any Female Employee in the Asylum service shall, in the event of her marriage, notify the fact to the Medical Superintendent, and her services will be dispensed with, unless retained for the convenience of the Institution.

Rule 329

All Attendants, Nurses, Laundry Employees, Kitchen and other Servants, Labourers, and Artizans are required to leave and enter by the Lodge Gates, and to deposit their keys with the Gate Porter before leaving the Estate.

THE FOREMAN OF WORKS

Rule 255

He shall examine all locks in the building once every four months, and shall furnish a written report of the condition that he has found them in, and shall certify that he has thoroughly examined every lock.
